Meet Mistletoe, our four-legged holiday miracle and full-time Clinic Manager. Born in 2017 on Christmas Day, this tiny Toy Poodle arrived wrapped in curls instead of swaddling clothes—and she’s been the gift that keeps on giving ever since.

At Low Vision Specialists, Mistletoe takes her leadership role very seriously. While the humans handle the charts and devices, she oversees the far more critical operations: greeting every single patient at the door, conducting thorough lap inspections, and ensuring that no hand goes un-nuzzled. She believes firmly (and correctly, in her mind) that each and every person who walks through our doors has scheduled their appointment specifically to see her.

As Clinic Manager, Mistletoe specializes in morale-boosting therapy. Her approach includes enthusiastic tail wags, compassionate eye contact, and the occasional gentle paw placement for emotional emphasis. For patients navigating functional vision loss, she offers what no prescription can provide—steady comfort, unconditional love, and the reassuring presence of a warm, curly supervisor who takes her job to heart.

Rain or shine, Mistletoe reports for duty with her best heart on, ready to calm spirits and brighten days. She has a remarkable talent for sensing who needs an extra cuddle and who could benefit from a double-dose of joy. Her performance reviews consistently note excellence in “Spirit Lifting,” “Patient Relations,” and “Snack Detection.”

Though she may be small in stature, Mistletoe’s impact is enormous. She reminds us daily that healing isn’t just about seeing better—it’s about feeling seen, welcomed, and cared for.

After all, in her professional opinion, this clinic exists for one very important reason: To support her patients.

I joined Dr. Williams and the team in July 2025 after spending more than 30 years in the manufacturing industry. At that point in my career, I felt it was time for a meaningful change, and I’m grateful that the path led me to Low Vision Specialists.

From the very beginning, I was warmly welcomed by the entire team and quickly felt at home. As I listened to patients share their experiences and got to know my coworkers better, it became clear that I had found exactly what I had been searching for in a workplace. This is truly an environment where people care deeply about one another—both our patients and our team. Being part of a group that supports each other while making a real difference in people’s lives is incredibly rewarding.

Those values align closely with who I am, and I’m proud to be part of this team. While none of us are perfect, we are passionate about what we do. One of the most meaningful parts of our work is seeing patients leave our office with renewed hope—hope that they can continue enjoying the activities that matter most to them, like reading.

What sets our practice apart is the time and care Dr. Williams dedicates to each patient. She ensures that everyone has the opportunity to fully understand their condition and learn about the options available to them.

Sandy has been a dedicated Optometric Assistant at Low Vision Specialists since 2021. In this role, Sandy supports patients throughout their care experience by assisting with examinations, preparing diagnostic equipment, and helping ensure each visit runs smoothly and efficiently.

Known for a straightforward and personable approach, Sandy strives to create a comfortable environment for patients while assisting the clinical team in delivering high-quality vision care. Sandy values clear communication, attention to detail, and making sure each patient receives the support they need during their visit.

Sandy brings resilience, perspective, and a strong commitment to building a positive future through meaningful work and service to others. Sandy is proud to be part of a team focused on improving quality of life for patients with low vision.

Amanda joined Low Vision Specialists in 2024, bringing with her a strong background in customer service and a genuine passion for helping people. Known around the office as our “Tech Diva,” Amanda has a unique talent for bridging the gap between old-school methods and modern technology, helping patients with visual impairments learn how to use tools and devices that can make daily life easier and more enjoyable.

Amanda plays an important role in gathering and organizing patient information, helping our team explain complex visual conditions in clear, everyday language. She works closely with patients to help them understand what is happening with their vision, where the impairment occurs, and how it can affect their quality of life.

With a compassionate and practical approach, Amanda recommends devices, technologies, and visual aids tailored to each patient’s needs. She finds the greatest reward in working with individuals who are determined to overcome challenges and continue living full, independent lives despite their vision limitations.

Amanda looks forward to helping patients every day, guiding them toward solutions that support greater confidence, independence, and quality of life.
